Teams
A team is a named group of members that you can grant a role on a space in one step, instead of adding each person separately.
How teams work
A team only groups people. On its own it gives no access. Its power comes from space grants: give a team the Viewer, Editor or Admin role on a closed or private space, and everyone in the team gets that role there. When someone joins or leaves the team, their access follows.
If a person has a role through more than one route, such as their own grant and one or more teams, they get the highest of those roles. Open spaces make every member an editor anyway, so team grants matter on closed and private spaces. See Space permissions.
Only organisation admins can create and manage teams.
How many teams you can have
Your plan sets how many teams the organisation can have, and some plans have no limit. When you reach your plan's limit, creating another team asks you to upgrade. See the pricing page for each plan's limit.
Creating a team
- Click the organisation card at the top of the sidebar and choose Teams under Admin.
- Under New team, type a name (up to 120 characters).
- Click Create team.
Adding and removing team members
Each team card has a Members list.
- To add someone, choose them in Add a member… and click Add.
- To take someone off, click the remove button beside their name.
Giving a team access to a space
You grant a team a role from the space, not from the team:
- Open the Spaces tab and find the space.
- Under Teams, choose the team in Add a team…, pick a role and click Add.
You can also do this from the space's own settings. Each team card lists its Granted spaces and the role it holds on each.
Renaming, logos and deleting
- Rename: click the pencil button on the team card, type the new name and click Save.
- Logo: upload a square logo on the team card, or remove it.
- Delete: click the bin button on the team card and confirm with Delete. Members lose the access they held through the team. Their own memberships and direct space grants stay.
When someone leaves or is removed from the organisation, they're taken off all its teams. A suspended member stays on their teams, but has no access while suspended.
