Your account

Signing in

Sign in to Folioso with your email and password, with GitHub, or through your organisation's single sign-on, and keep your account secure with email verification and two-factor authentication.

Sign in with your email and password

  1. Go to the sign-in page and enter your Email and Password.
  2. Tick Remember me if you want to stay signed in on this device after the browser closes.
  3. Select Sign in.

If your account has two-factor authentication turned on, you're asked for a code next. See The two-factor code prompt.

After several failed attempts in a short time, sign-in is paused for a minute. Wait and try again.

Sign in with GitHub

Select Continue with GitHub on the sign-in page and approve Folioso on GitHub.

  • If your GitHub account is already linked to a Folioso account, you're signed straight in.
  • If you already have a Folioso account with the same email address, GitHub is linked to it, but only when the address is verified on both sides. GitHub only shares verified addresses. If your Folioso address isn't verified yet, the link is refused: sign in with your password, verify your email, then try GitHub again.
  • If there's no matching account, a new Folioso account is created with your GitHub email already verified, and you choose a plan next. While Folioso is taking sign-ups by invitation only, this needs an invitation.

GitHub needs at least one verified email address on your GitHub account. If it has none, Folioso can't sign you in.

GitHub sign-in always remembers your device, and it doesn't ask for a two-factor code. Your GitHub account is the second factor in that case.

Tip

An account created with GitHub has no password you know. To sign in with your email address too, open Settings and use Set a password. See Profile and email.

Sign in with single sign-on

If your organisation has set up single sign-on (SSO), you can sign in through its identity provider.

  1. On the sign-in page, select Single sign-on.
  2. Under Workspace address, type your organisation's address (the part before .folioso.dev).
  3. Select Continue and sign in at your identity provider.

Single sign-on only signs in people who are already members of the organisation. It never creates an account. The first time, Folioso links your identity to the member whose verified email matches the one your provider sends. If your Folioso address isn't verified yet, sign in with your password once to verify it, then use SSO.

Like GitHub, single sign-on doesn't ask for a Folioso two-factor code. Admins set it up in Single sign-on.

The two-factor code prompt

If you've turned on two-factor authentication, signing in with a password takes two steps:

  1. Enter your email and password as usual.
  2. On the Two-factor authentication page, enter the six-digit Authentication code from your authenticator app and select Verify.

Lost your phone? Select Lost your device? Use a recovery code and enter one of the recovery codes you saved. Each recovery code works once.

Forgot your password

  1. On the sign-in page, select Forgot password?.
  2. Enter your email address and select Send reset link.
  3. Open the link in the email within 60 minutes. Enter your email and a new password, then select Reset password.
  4. Sign in with your new password. The reset link doesn't sign you in by itself.

A new password needs at least 8 characters, with upper- and lower-case letters, a number and a symbol.

Verify your email address

When you register with an email and password, Folioso sends you a verification link. Open it to confirm the address. The link is valid for 60 minutes.

You can use Folioso before you verify, but these actions are locked until you do:

  • sharing a page with someone and turning on a page's public link;
  • inviting people to an organisation;
  • adding a domain or sending a domain verification email;
  • joining an organisation through a verified domain.

To get a fresh link, select Verify now in the reminder at the top of the app, then Resend verification email.

If you change your email address later, the new address has to be verified again. See Profile and email.

Signing out

Select the Sign out icon next to your name at the bottom of the sidebar.

There's no single "sign out everywhere" button. To end your sessions on every other device, change your password: Folioso signs out all your other devices and forgets any device you'd asked it to remember. See Profile and email.

If your account is scheduled for deletion

If you asked to delete your account and are still inside the grace window, signing in with the right password (or with GitHub) doesn't open the app. Folioso emails you a reactivation link instead. See Deleting your account.
