Plans
Folioso has four plans: Free, Pro, Team and Business. This page explains how plans work, the difference between flat and per-seat plans, and covers trials and older plan versions.
The four plans
Every organisation is on exactly one plan, and the plan belongs to the organisation, not to you. If you belong to several organisations, each one has its own plan.
Every new organisation starts on Free, and Free is also the plan an organisation returns to when it stops paying. Pro, Team and Business are paid plans that raise the limits and add features.
What each plan includes, and what it costs, can change over time, so this documentation doesn't list them. See the pricing page for the current terms of every plan. Organisation admins also see them on the Billing page when choosing a plan.
What a plan controls
A plan sets two kinds of terms:
- Limits, such as how many spaces, groups and teams the organisation can create, how many pages each person can share at once, how many seats are included, the largest single image upload, the organisation's total image storage, and how long automatic version history is kept. A limit can also be unlimited.
- Features, which a plan either includes or doesn't, such as version history, PDF export, API access, a custom organisation address, private spaces, single sign-on, member suspension, the audit log, custom branding and domain auto-join.
When you reach a limit, or try to use a feature your plan doesn't include, Folioso tells you and points organisation admins to the Billing page. Each feature's page in this documentation describes what you see.
A few things apply whatever your plan:
- Spaces counts the organisation's shared spaces. Everyone's personal space ("My space") is extra and doesn't count.
- Image storage is shared by the whole organisation. On a per-seat plan, the allowance is an amount per seat multiplied by the number of seats you're billed for. On a flat plan, it's a single amount.
- Version history retention applies to the automatic daily snapshots. Snapshots you take by hand are kept whatever your plan. See Version history.
- Real-time collaboration is on every plan. It switches on wherever a page is shared or its space has more than one member. See Editing together.
Flat and per-seat plans
A plan is billed in one of two ways:
- Flat plans charge one price for the organisation, and that price includes a fixed number of seats. When every seat is taken, you can't invite anyone else until you free a seat or move to a plan with more room.
- Per-seat plans charge for each member, so there is no fixed cap: inviting someone adds a seat when they join. A per-seat plan can have a minimum number of seats, so you're billed for at least that many even with fewer members, and the spare seats are filled first as people join.
The pricing page shows how each plan is billed, how many seats a flat plan includes, and any minimum on a per-seat plan. See Seats for exactly who counts and when the count changes.
Free trials
A plan can come with a free trial. When it does, the plan chooser shows its length on the plan (such as "N-day free trial.") and, at registration, "You won't be billed until the trial ends."
During a trial nothing is billed. When the trial ends, the organisation moves on to the paid plan automatically, and the trial's end date becomes your renewal date from then on. If you return to Free before the trial ends, the trial simply ends there and nothing is charged.
Older plan versions
Folioso sometimes updates a plan's terms by publishing a new version of it. Existing customers aren't moved. If you're on an earlier version, you keep its price and limits for as long as you stay on it, and the Billing page marks your plan with a Legacy terms badge and explains which version you're on.
Only the current version of each plan is sold, so any plan change from a legacy version moves you onto current terms for good. Before that happens, Folioso shows a separate Move off your legacy plan? screen comparing your price and features Now and After, with a list of What changes. Choose Move to plan to confirm, or Back to keep your legacy terms.
Important
Moving off a legacy version is permanent. Your old terms can't be restored afterwards, even by choosing the same plan again.
Moving to Free from a legacy version doesn't need this confirmation, but it still ends your legacy terms when the move lands.
Who can change the plan
Only organisation admins can see the Billing page and change the plan. Members don't see it at all. See Choosing a plan.
