Deleting an organisation

Deleting an organisation closes it for everyone straight away and erases it permanently after a 30-day grace window, during which an admin can restore it from an emailed link.

Who can delete an organisation#

Any organisation admin. You confirm by typing the organisation's name and your password.

What deletion removes#

Once the grace window ends, Folioso permanently deletes:

• every space, group, tag and team;
• every page, including pages in members' personal spaces and in the recycle bin;
• all memberships, invitations and settings.

Members' accounts aren't deleted. They keep their other organisations. Invoices that have already been issued are kept as financial records.

Deleting the organisation#

1. Open Settings and scroll to Danger zone.
2. Click Delete organisation….
3. Read the summary: how many members lose access, and how many spaces and pages are deleted.
4. Type the organisation's name in Type [name] to confirm.
5. Type your password in Confirm your password.
6. Click Delete organisation.

What happens next#

Straight away:

• The organisation closes for everyone. Its address stops working and nobody can open its spaces or pages.
• Every member gets an email saying the organisation is scheduled for deletion. The admins' copy contains a link to restore it.
• The subscription is cancelled at the end of the current billing period.

Members who have no other organisation are asked to create a new workspace when they next sign in.

After 30 days, the organisation is erased permanently. Nothing can be recovered after that.

Restoring an organisation#

Within the 30 days, any admin of the organisation can restore it:

1. Open the restore link in the deletion email.
2. Sign in, if you aren't already, with your admin account. The link only works for an admin of that organisation.
3. Click Restore followed by the organisation's name.

Everything comes back exactly as it was: every space, page, team and member, and the same address.

The subscription doesn't come back on its own. It stays cancelled, and runs out at the end of the period it was in. To keep your plan, resume or choose it again on the Billing tab. See Choosing a plan.

If you decide not to restore it, just close the page. The deletion goes ahead.

Deleting your account instead#

If you're the only member of an organisation and you delete your Folioso account, the organisation is deleted with it. See Deleting your account.
