Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions people ask most about accounts, plans and billing, sharing, security and your data, with links to the full details.

Account

Can I sign in with GitHub?

Yes. You can sign in with an email and password or with GitHub. If your organisation's plan includes it, your organisation can also set up single sign-on through its identity provider, alongside the usual sign-in. See Signing in and Single sign-on.

Can I belong to more than one organisation?

Yes. Every account comes with its own organisation, and you can join others by invitation. Each organisation has its own address, members and plan. See Working in several organisations.

Can I undo deleting my account?

Yes, for 30 days. Deleting your account starts a 30-day grace window, and Folioso emails you a link to reactivate it. After that the account is erased for good. See Deleting your account.

What happens to my pages if I leave an organisation?

They stay in the organisation. Leaving removes your access, not your work. Pages that only you could see, such as private pages and anything in your personal space, then appear to the organisation's admins under content left by former members, so they can hand them to someone else or delete them. See Former members' content.

Plans and billing

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Every organisation starts on Free, and it's also the plan you return to if you stop paying. Its limits are lower than the paid plans'. See the pricing page for what it includes, and Plans for how plans work.

How much do the paid plans cost?

See the pricing page for current prices.

Who can change the plan?

Organisation admins. Members don't see billing at all. See Choosing a plan.

What's the difference between flat and per-seat plans?

A flat plan charges one price for the organisation and includes a fixed number of seats. A per-seat plan charges for each member and may have a minimum number of seats. Plans also differ in their limits and features. See Plans and the pricing page.

What happens if I add a member mid-month?

On a per-seat plan, the new seat is charged only for the rest of the current billing period. Removing someone lowers your seat count at the next renewal. See Seats.

When does a plan change take effect?

Upgrades apply straight away and are charged pro rata. Downgrades and moves to Free wait until the end of the billing period, so you keep what you've paid for. See Upgrading and Downgrading.

If I move to Free, will I lose my pages?

No. Nothing you've created is deleted. Free's limits and features apply, and members beyond the seats Free includes are suspended until you upgrade again. See Moving to the Free plan.

How do I pay?

There's no card payment in Folioso yet. Invoices are issued after each billing period closes and are payable offline. See Invoices.

What happens if I don't pay an invoice?

Folioso sends reminders 1, 7 and 14 days after the due date. If it's still unpaid 21 days after the due date, the organisation moves to Free, and the invoice remains owed. See Overdue payments.

Is real-time collaboration a paid feature?

No. Live editing together works on every plan. See Editing together.

Is the API available on every plan?

No. API access is a plan feature, so it depends on your organisation's plan. See the pricing page and API overview.

Sharing

Can I share a page with someone outside my organisation?

Yes. Turn on a public link, which anyone with the address can open, read-only or with edit access, and optionally protected by a password. You can also share a page directly with a person. See Public links and Sharing with people.

No. Folioso tells search engines not to index shared pages, though link previews in chat apps still work. See Public links.

Why can't I share more pages?

Your plan may limit how many pages you can have shared at once. Stop sharing one, or upgrade to a plan with a higher limit. See Shared page limits and the pricing page.

Security

Do I have to use two-factor authentication?

It's optional for most people, but required for admins and owners of an organisation that has more than one member. See Two-factor authentication.

Can my organisation's admins read my personal space?

Not while you're a member. Your personal space ("My space") is private to you. No one else holds a role there, organisation admins included. If you leave the organisation, any pages left in it become visible to admins as former members' content. See About spaces and Former members' content.

Can I see who did what in my organisation?

If your plan includes the audit log, admins can view and export a log of security events, such as members joining and settings changing. See Audit log.

Your data

Can I export everything?

Yes. Export all data in your account settings emails you a link to a ZIP of every page as Markdown plus your uploaded images. The link lasts 24 hours. See Exporting your data.

How long do deleted pages stay in the recycle bin?

30 days. After that they're deleted permanently. See Recycle bin.

Can I get an old version of a page back?

Yes, if your plan includes version history. Folioso keeps daily snapshots of each page, and you can take your own, then preview and restore any of them. See Version history.

Something isn't working. Where do I start?

See Troubleshooting.
