Working in several organisations
One Folioso account can belong to several organisations, each with its own web address, spaces, plan and role for you; you switch between them from the sidebar.
How it works
Every account gets its own organisation when it registers. You join other organisations by invitation, or through a verified email domain. You can't create a second organisation of your own while you already belong to one.
Each organisation is separate:
- it has its own web address, so each one opens at a different address in your browser;
- your role (admin or member) is set per organisation;
- you have a personal space ("My space") in each one;
- plans, seats and features belong to each organisation, not to your account.
Your profile, password, two-factor authentication and preferences belong to your account and are the same everywhere. API tokens are tied to one organisation each. See API tokens.
Switching organisation
- Click the organisation card at the top of the sidebar.
- Under Organisations, choose the one you want.
The list shows each organisation with your role, or suspended if an admin there has suspended you. The Organisations list only appears once you belong to more than one.
When you sign in, Folioso opens the organisation you last visited.
Joining by invitation
An admin of the other organisation invites your email address. Open the link in the email:
- if you're signed in with that address, you join straight away;
- if you're signed in with a different account, Folioso explains the mismatch, and you can sign out and use the right account;
- if you're signed out, sign in with the invited address, or create an account.
Invitations expire after 7 days. Ask the admin to resend an expired one. See Members and invitations.
If you registered with GitHub, every open invitation sent to your verified GitHub email address is accepted when you sign up.
Joining through your company's email domain
If an organisation has verified your email domain, and your email address is verified, Folioso offers to let you join it without an invitation. You'll see the offer:
- after you sign up or sign in, on a page headed "Your team is already here";
- in the organisation switcher, as Join followed by the organisation's name.
Click Join to become a member, or Not now to skip it. See Verified domains.
Leaving an organisation
Click the organisation card and choose Leave organisation. You can't leave your only organisation, one where you're the only member, or one where you're the owner or the last admin. See Admins and ownership.
If you're left with no organisation
If your last organisation is deleted, Folioso shows "You don't have a workspace" when you sign in. Type a Workspace name to create a new one and carry on.
